The context

Accessibility and visual appeal as one goal.

The project was created for the University of Padua's Accattivante Accessibile competition: visual quality had to coexist with verifiable accessibility requirements.

The challenge

Move beyond the false trade-off between character and compliance.

Prevent accessibility from being treated as a final add-on or, conversely, as a limit on the interface's personality.

The solution

Semantics, contrast, and responsive behavior designed together.

Working with Francesco Marcon and Alberto Reginato, I treated semantics, contrast, hierarchy, navigation, and responsive behavior as parts of the same visual direction.

The outcome

First prize as public validation of the method.

SailUp won first prize in the 2026 edition, publicly demonstrating that an accessible interface can also be distinctive and engaging.

Let's start with the process, not the technology.
